Williams Mullen – RBC Plaza

Interior Design

After years in a suburban office park, Williams Mullen recommitted their flagship North Carolina office to a revitalized area of downtown Raleigh. The space offers sweeping views of the state capitol, downtown and the surrounding area. The new facility consolidates and reorganizes the firm’s functional elements that had grown organically and incorporates design strategies developed in the firm’s other offices. While Williams Mullen sought a visual identity consistent with its existing offices, they desired a “fresh” look, incorporating a mixture of both traditional and contemporary materials, helping promote the modern, yet timeless image the law firm desired.

The key organizing concept is a warm and inviting reception and conference center, consolidating the public spaces of the suite separate from private working areas. The conference center includes extensive conventional and video conference rooms, tele-video spaces and a multi-media equipped multipurpose room, all linked to the firm’s central audio visual systems with cutting-edge technology. There are also serving and catering spaces for entertaining and events.

The remainder of the suite provides secure and confidential space for approximately a 185 attorneys and staff. Other centrally located and unique spaces in the private office area include a generous break room, with both café and bar-height seating.
