Oceanfront Dentistry
Located adjacent to the City of Virginia Beach’s Old Beach District revitalization effort, the Oceanfront Dentistry’s practice was in great need of more than just an architectural facelift. This ordinary single story 1950’s Cape Cod dentist office had become outdated, cramped and dysfunctional.
Our design has architectural elements reminiscent of a turn of the century Beach cottage. Brick pedestals for exterior columns, dormer windows, exposed rafter tails and eave brackets, and landscaping with live oaks and oleander are exterior details that literally transformed this office into a charming Craftsman style beach bungalow.
Interior first floor work included renovations to the existing 1866 square feet and construction of a new 857 square foot Addition. The building now boasts a larger more comfortable waiting / check-in area, six additional doctor / patient operatories, and upgraded plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems able to handle the increase in load. Conversion of 977 square feet of existing attic space created room for adjoining doctors’ offices, a roomy employee break and staff conferencing area and an additional unisex toilet and shower. Throughout the interior the warmth and beauty of wood in Craftsman styling surrounds windows, railings, moldings, and cornices.
