HUDD Distribution Center
It was a unique situation – HUDD Distribution, the developer, HBA Architecture & Interior Design and the project’s contractor began working together year in advance: searching for land, analyzing sites and evaluating costs.
The goal of this Center was to design and construct a cost effective 225,000 SF logistics and storage facility with 120 loading bays, 550 trailer parking spaces on 45 acres within an amazing 10 month timeframe. HUDD’s desire was to create an attractive building when viewed from the Interstate.
The HBA team worked closely to expedite City and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approvals. The contractor worked with the developer, architect and engineers in a design/build relationship providing budget input throughout while the site and building construction documents were issued in 3 phases to expedite construction.
HBA’s design challenge was to craft a well-organized functional logistics, storage, and office facility while designing an attractive building. HUDD facility is a unicolor precast with distinctive blue bands traversing the building for a visual link that breaks up long expanses of the façades. The main entrance is focused on a distinctive custom reception/security desk with the HUDD corporate logo floating overhead. The office area is a class A corporate space which HBA Interior Designers appointed with rich carpet, wall coverings and cherry finished wood doors and trim.
