HBA Office

This project involved the renovation of our Virginia Beach office, focused on transforming a previously dark and enclosed workplace into a bright, open, and intuitive environment. The design prioritizes increased access to natural light, improved finishes, and enhanced visual connectivity throughout the office. Dark gray walls and carpeting were removed, systems furniture panels were lowered, and previously enclosed areas were opened to allow daylight to penetrate deeper into the space.

A key design challenge was addressing wayfinding at the elevator lobby. Upon exiting the elevator, visitors were naturally drawn toward the windows of the open office rather than the reception area. To correct this, the design subtly guides movement toward reception through architectural and material cues. The elevator lobby countertop was tapered to suggest forward motion, while linear wood grain patterns were aligned to visually lead toward the reception desk. The conference room and reception area were opened up to provide immediate views to the exterior, reinforcing orientation upon arrival. A feature wall and ceiling element further anchor the reception area, creating a clear focal point and welcoming destination as visitors enter the office.
