FIRE STATION #8, DEEP CREEK

Station #8 replaces an outdated facility in the City of Chesapeake’s Deep Creek section of the City. This section of the City has a long history spanning beyond the City’s beginnings. The 16,000 sf single story facility is composed of 4 apparatus bays with support spaces, a kitchen area, bunk room wings, day room, watch desk, and administration spaces. This station will also serve its community with a dedicated meeting room for civic functions. An important focal point along the major arterial road of Moses-Grandy the site possesses an existing storm water pond located adjacent to the new station. This pond will be improved to not only contain and treat the rain run-off, but will also serve as a training element for the fire department. Allowing for fire draft training, creating a controlled environment for
draft pumping practice. The new station is designed with traditional materials such as lap siding, masonry, and standing seam metal roofing, but in a more modern design, allowing for a connection to the local vernacular but reaching for a new Chesapeake aesthetic.
