1 Foot 2 Foot
The abandoned 1920’s Chadwick Theatre on Main Street and two adjacent retail buildings house 1 Foot 2 Foot, a center for foot and ankle care; The Shoe Fits, retail shoe store, Stems foot spa, and The Institute of Fixing and Reconstructing Toes. HBA chose whimsical but serene colors for a less clinical and more spa-like feel, infusing the old character and charm utilizing exposed brick to create warmth.
The retail space is open and airy. The cool color palette is enhanced by the blond wood minimalist display system that conjures the illusion that the footwear floats in mid-air. Sleek pendant lighting and arched perforated metal ceiling canopies are throughout. A water feature separates reception and the spa. The tall cascades provide privacy while the bubbling sounds are soothing and mask street noise.
HBA Interior Design studio made color choices in the massage room that are warm and tonal to enhance the serenity. Throughout the finishes were selected for durability for high traffic retail and medical hygiene.
The result is a unique 6,000 SF complex combining diverse uses in a professional and personable atmosphere. The restoration and revitalization of these historic buildings on this Mayberry-esque Main Street transformed this tired business district bringing “foot traffic” to sidewalks.
