As Stihl nears completion, HBA’s Bruce Prichard and Mariusz Mijal, along with Tyler Park with Hourigan Construction, led a tour for local architects and engineers. HBA teamed with AIA Hampton Roads as part of their “Hard Hat Tours” which allows licensed architects to continue their education by observing unique construction challenges faced by other local architects, and young aspiring architects to gain valuable first hand experience on a construction site.
The learning objectives for this tour, inlcuded:
- Exterior envelope acoustic isolation to meet Building Code required STC values for airport zone
- Interior acoustic isolation for integrated mixed uses. Stihl Headquarters consisting of office, museum, auditorium and industrial use which will generate small engine noise within enclosed Lab and Shop spaces.
- Rain screen metal wall panels
- Green roof design, complete roof system by Hydrotech
We’re excited to see how construction has progressed and we can’t wait to see the finished project this Summer!
