HBA Welcomes back Justin, Carly and Nash as summer interns!

HBA is pleased to announce the return of Justin Creese, Carly Bromwell, and Nash Euman to our staff as summer interns. All three were with us last summer and are returning for their second and third years respectively. Justin Justin is a recent graduate of Pratt where he completed his Bachelor of Architecture in 2019. Justin recently relocated to the Virginia Beach area. For his thesis he worked on a project dealing with a natural disaster response system post hurricane Maria and a design manual teaching the basics of architecture to incoming freshman, he likes to draw and loves the beach front!   Carly Carly is a rising senior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), graduating 2021 and is studying abroad in Switzerland next spring.  At school she is the ‘Better Box Design Chair’ for Habitat for Humanity and has been working on a design for a low-cost, efficient single-family home.  In her free time she likes to stay active by hiking, biking, paddle-boarding, snow boarding,  etc.  This summer she is learning to play the guitar. She is excited to be back at HBA and is very grateful to have this opportunity.   Nas

HBA Welcomes Sam Harlow and Matthew Gump as Summer interns

HBA is pleased to announce the addition of Sam Harlow and Matthew Gump to our staff as Summer Interns.   Sam Harlow Sam is a rising 4th year student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). She is a first-gen student and has two dogs at home. She enjoys making ceramics in her spare time. She will be studying abroad in Riva San Vitale, Switzerland in the fall.   Matt Gump Matt is a rising 3rd year student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), and is a part of a long line of Hokies. He enjoys reading, writing, playing board games, and running Dungeons & Dragons.  At school he worked on a tool belt design for NASA (in picture). We look forward to having them join us this summer.

HBA welcomes Alexandra Fasshauer

  HBA is pleased to announce the addition of Alexandra Fasshauer to the HBA staff as a new Intern Architect. Alexandra is a graduate of University of Florida where she earned her Bachelors of Design with a major in Architecture in 2014. Alexandra recently moved to Virginia from Florida along with her two dogs (Mae) a Jack Russell Terrier and (Louie) a Mini Pointer Dachshund. She loves to travel and explore cities rich in traditional architecture. In her spare time, she is an avid reader, loves to refinish furniture, country two step and line dance and compete in bodybuilding events. She also loves to brew her own beer and hopes to one day own a brewery herself.

Project Progress: New Government Facilities Dinwiddie County

HBA is teamed with Armada Hoffler Construction Company to provide Design Build Services for New Government Facilities for the County of Dinwiddie VA. Our team includes: Armada Hoffer Construction Company (Construction), Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects (Public Safety Architect), MSA, PC (Civil Engineering), Speight, Marshall & Francis, PC (Structural Engineering), PACE Collaborative (MEP Engineering) and Major Security Consulting (Security Systems). This project is the consolidation of several government offices. The project includes construction of a new County Administration Building and a new County Public Safety Building on the existing County Government Center campus. The project is intended to create a more coherent campus by adding new County Administration Building and renovating portions of the existing services building, and by replacing the current Public Safety Building. The County Courthouse remains with only enhancements to the parking and campus layout. All existing buildings shall remain operational throughout the construction process. Celebrating 10 years with HBA

10 years ago, the World Architecture Festival was first held in Barcelona, Airbnb was founded, and Mariusz Mijal joined the team at HBA. Mariusz is an integral part of the Community Studio. A valuable member of the team, he brings decades of experience to his leadership role as an Associate. Mariusz has served as Project Manager /Architect on many projects including the Portsmouth Courts project, Suffolk Municipal Center and most recently Stihl Headquarters in Virginia Beach. As we celebrate Mariusz's Tin Anniversary and his accomplishments at HBA, we thank him for his invaluable service and dedication.
