HBA takes the plunge for Special Olympics of Virginia

The Polar Plunge of Virginia Beach was held on February 4th, benefiting the Special Olympics of Virginia, an athletic program which gives intellectually disabled children and adults opportunities to develop fitness, build character, and experience the joy of competition in a supportive environment.

Polar Plunge 2017

This is the 12th year in a row that the HBA family joined the crowd of thousands who were crazy enough to jump into the Atlantic for fun! We had a great time on Saturday, even with the wind chill being in the teens. Each year, we pick a different character or icon to dress up as. This year, we elected to dress up as Emoji’s! Each emoji was picked to show off our unique personalities. HBA raised $11,520.00 and broke our fundraising record from 2016. Our own Mike Ross was our top fundraiser, and was even the #10 Top Individual Fundraiser for the event, raising over $5,550.

Overall, the 2017 Polar Plunge in Virginia Beach raised more than $1,1 million for Special Olympics Virginia at the silver anniversary of the Polar Plunge!

All of us here at HBA want to thank all of our sponsors, who helped make our fundraising goal a reality!
