Kempsville Community Recreation Center – Progress

The new Kempsville Recreation Center is coming along nicely, and we are thrilled to see the building starting to take shape! The walls are up in the gymnasium, and the joists are being put in.

Over on the north part of the building, the pool is being supported by helical piles, and a sea of rebar begins to show the shape of what will eventually be a large competition and wading pool.

When the new recreation center is complete, it will house an indoor track, basketball courts, a competition pool and wading pool, a dance studio, workout room, several community rooms as well as a childcare center. Kempsville Recreation Center was designed to be a LEED Silver Certified building, and includes sustainable features such as a geo-thermal system, rapidly renewable materials, and highly efficient HVAC and plumbing systems.

We can’t wait for the recreation center to open in 2017, you can be sure you’ll find several members of the HBA family there!
