Elizabeth River Park Opening

Elizabeth River Park was opened to the public on May 30,2015 after a two year renovation and improvement project.  The new park has two restroom buildings, one of which has a concession area and small ship store.  There are multiple shelters on the property with views to the river and a dog park to bring your four legged friends. The boat ramp is still fully operational and the parking and dock have been overhauled to give the people of South Norfolk a great place to enjoy the water and views.

The ribbon cutting included speeches by Michael Barber the director of Chesapeake’s Parks and Recreation Department and Wilbur Hogge from the Public Works Department as well as Mayor Alan Krasnoff who all spoke of the excitement this park will bring to the area as well as the events to come.

Music filled the air, food was on offer and plenty of kids activities dotted the park.  It’s an exciting time to be in South Norfolk!
