Art for Architects – Richmond, Virginia, 2013
This juried show of fine art by architects highlights the range of architectural talent in Virginia. Residents of Virginia who have a degree in architecture or who are practicing architects were encouraged to submit their artwork. From among the 175 submissions, 44 artists had at least one handmade piece of visual art chosen for the exhibition, which includes paintings (oil, watercolor, acrylic), drawings (pencil, ink), and collages (mixed media). This show is being held from April 11-July 7 at the Virginia Center for Architecture, in Richmond, Virginia.
HBA’s own Becky Cook had a few pieces selected to be displayed at the show. Becky has an outstanding eye, her ability to capture the essence of a particular piece architecture or public space and convey it through a simple watercolor or sketch is inspiring. Her use of watercolor to represent light is exceptional, the visual connection from light flowing through a clerestory to blue hues washing into umber tones is a refreshing method in the world of computer generated graphics.
Additionally, we are so excited for Becky, who will become a Bride on June 21st! Congratulations, Becky & Paul!
