Hampton Roads Revit User Group
Thursday, January 25, 2012 marked the inaugural meeting of the ‘Hampton Roads Revit User Group’ at the Yard House at Town Center in Virginia Beach. Several of us from HBA were in attendance to hear what the group’s goals are and how Revit users from our firm might contribute. Some of the ideas discussed at the social gathering were topics of discussion for future meetings, and the scheduling of future events.
The group was formed by Revit users from local architectural, engineering, and contractor firms and the inaugural event was sponsored by IMAGINiT Technologies. The group has a Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/HamptonRoadsRUG and describes what they are about as follows.
“The Hampton Roads Revit User Group is dedicated to increase the knowledge and awareness of the Revit platform in the AEC Community.”
As a member of a firm that uses Revit as BIM and not just simply a tool to create models for views and renderings, and creating construction documents, the group makes a lot of sense. Revit and BIM are designed to exploit an open platform of sharing and interoperability, and consulting with AEC peers seems like a great way to expand all of our knowledge, and to help understand the quickly evolving BIM standard and delivery methods.
HBA Revit users are excited to see the group grow and look forward to becoming an integral part of the group’s discussion. We would like to thank the group’s board members for their initiative and hard work to make the ‘Hampton Roads Revit User Group’ an entity in the Hampton Roads AEC community.
The board members informed us that the group would meet every third Thursday of every other month at a location TBD. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 15, 2012, and we are looking forward to attending.
