Children’s Museum of Virginia – Kids-eye View…
“The museum has been closed since 2009 to undergo a $13 million upgrade. Portsmouth’s senior civil engineer, Jeff Harper, said the museum was “right on target” with the budget. The city of Portsmouth spent $9 million, and the Portsmouth Museums Foundation donated $4 million for the exhibits, said Martha Frances Fortson, the foundation’s executive director.
The two-story facility includes 12 large exhibit areas on the first floor and three themed areas on the second floor.
…The upgrade added 12,000 square feet and includes dozens of exhibits. It expanded the train display and a new model town with a market, pet store, bank, firehouse and library. A planetarium will open in the fall.”
