Project Award : Liebherr Mining and Construction Equipment Inc in Newport News

HBA is teamed with Kimley-Horn Associates (Civil Engineering), Speight, Marshall & Francis, PC (Structural Engineering), PACE Collaborative (MEP Engineering) and GET Solutions (Geotechnical Engineering). The project is the expansion of the existing Liebherr campus in Newport News. It has just entered the construction phase and will be completed in Fall 2019.

Results of Young Designers’ Scholarship Competition

This year thirty-one students entered the Young Designers’ Scholarship Competition, a program for high school students interested in drafting, architecture or home building.  The competition’s three judges were local architecture and building professionals. Ten local high school students and two high school drafting instructors were awarded a total of $35,000 from the Tidewater Builders Association Scholarship Foundation during its annual academic awards program and Young Designers’ Scholarship Competition. Six scholarships were awarded for academic excellence, community service and financial need. Four students also received awards from the annual Young Designers’ Scholarship Competition, and two drafting instructors each received a $500 school grant. Instructors Eric Nestor of Oscar Smith High School, Chesapeake, and Jennifer Renne of Landstown High School, Virginia Beach, each won a $500 school grant to assist their drafting programs with necessary supplies and equipment. Now in its 53rd year, the TBA Scholarship Foundation has awarded 493 scholarships and more than $1.85 million since 1965. TBA will continue to provide scholarship funding during the 2018

Congratulations to Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) for receiving the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence

VBCPS was honored as the state's only K-12 recipient of the Award. It was honored for its divisionwide sustainability achievements which date back to 2005. Since that time, VBCPS has built or replaced seven LEED certified schools. This includes award winning facilities Kellam High School and Virginia Beach Middle School. When John B. Dey Elementary School modernization is complete it will bring the division's LEED Buildings to 10.   Read more about it here.

Greater Richmond ARC

HBA is proud to be part of the team for The Greater Richmond ARC Multipurpose Gym in Chesterfield, Virginia. Greater Richmond ARC is planning to build a 10,000-square-foot recreation facility at Camp Baker, its 22-acre retreat near Pocahontas State Park. The organization hopes to break ground in August. Estimated facility opening in May 2019.
